Jonathan Daniel, Fitback’s Managing Director, spotted a gap in the market for ante and post natal exercise classes for mums and mums-to-be. With so much conflicting advice on the benefits of exercising in pregnancy, it was clear that their strength would be in the use of experienced physiotherapists to lead the exercise classes.

Lamplighter Associates were delighted to be approached by Jonathan to assist in this exciting venture, which bore the name FitBack & Bumps.

Lamplighter played an integral role in bringing the product to market. We brought shape to the concept, developed the business operating model, training programmes, and ensured that the necessary intellectual property rights were in place to protect the legal ownership of the business. It was decided to sell the concept as a franchise model, the mechanics of which were designed and managed by us. We advised on branding and marketing materials, including a website, course workbooks and internal documentation.

Within six months, the company was up and running. After 14 months more than 40 instructors were certified across the UK.  Today, the company has in excess of  fully trained 200 instructors across the UK and Ireland.

It is fully endorsed by Nuffield Health and their consultant spinal surgeon, Manoj Krishna MBBS, MS(Orth), FRCS, Mch(Orth). It has expanded its product range and operates as a training services company providing courses tailored to many within the medical profession (midwives, physiotherapists, chiropractors, osteopaths, etc).

Lamplighter provided on going direction and support to the new company for a further 18 months. This is what Jonathan had to say:
